New York State Troopers say they initiated a vehicle stop on a 2015 Acura RDX near mile marker 48.8 for a traffic infraction on Wednesday, April 10 around 10 a.m.

While officers were interviewing the driver, identified as 27-year-old Erica Rezuke of West Hartford, Connecticut, she allegedly sped away, heading westbound on Interstate 84.

Troopers then say they returned to their vehicles and pursued Rezuke, who allegedly crossed the Newburgh-Beacon bridge before striking an uninvolved vehicle in the town of Newburgh on Interstate 84.

A short time later, police say they successfully took Rezuke into custody. Police allegedly discovered approximately 14 grams of amphetamines and 11.2 grams of marijuana in Rezuke’s possession. She was charged with:

  • Third-degree fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor
  • Reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation
  • Multiple vehicle and traffic violations

Rezuke was arraigned before the town of Fishkill Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secure bond. She is scheduled to return to court Wednesday, April 17.
